there’s ridiculously little happening here on my blog. Just thought I’d point that out. Well I was in London this weekend and came across this movie poster somewhere in the tube. They totally got that from me, no?

SHOE CUSTOMIZING, MY NEW HOBBY (DISCOVERED LAST NIGHT)

So, one day later I am suddenly not so convinced anymore that these shoes are really all that great. But a pair of cheap shoes, some acrylic paint and spraypaint, a bottle of white wine and I sure had a fun last night.

I’ve always flirted with the Aeon FLux look, I mean clothes and especially the shoes sported by Charlize Theron in the Aeon Flux movie. (I like the cartoon Aeon even more though)

And I’ve been looking for similar shoes forever, but just haven’t found the right kind… until a few hours ago. I found hese cheap ass shoes at New Yorker, with the wedge heel, but real plain and somewhat sporty. Ok, they were PINK! but I can change that…

I mixed ‘primal’ binder with black pigemts. lots of black pigments. (normal acrylic paint turned out not to be opaque/think enough) And then I just painted the whole thing black.

I deliberately left some of the pink shine through at some spots. It gives it a sort of rugged vintage look. still might change that, though.

The insides of the velcro straps I sprayed silver. I though spraying might be easier on this material than using a brush and acrylic paint.

Then I started adding some silver patterns. I partially covered the sides with tape, leaving out a random pattern of grass-like shapes…

… and that’s what they looked like when I took off the tape.. well maybe not exactly like Charlize’s but hey!

DOLLORES II

I have a hand-made, one of a kind robot doll! My most awesome friend Cipta of goodguysneverwin toy co. gave me one of his DOLLORES series. (well ok I BOUGHT it) She is still in Indonesia because at approx. 50cm height she’s not easy to transport. Cipta made some finishing touches on her and so I had to ask him to send me photos of what she looks like now!

Thinking of my DOLLORES also inspired me to try out a new look

So never write, post, link anything of importance on facebook. you will loose the rights forever!

Arrow To The Sun

The second little book I picked up at Aksara was this one: “Arrow to the Sun” by Gerald McDermott. It’s a short graphic novel with unique and very colorful illustrations (and almost no text).

It tells the story of a Pueblo Indian myth, in which a boy sets off in search of his father, who is the Lord of the Sun.

Gangsta Rap Coloring Book

A few days ago I went to Aksara Bookstore on Jl. Kemang Raya. They are having a clearance sale and I’m happy to have found these little treasures here:

1. The Gangsta Rap Coloring Book by Aye Jay. Check out the cover!! (that’s a crayon serving as a bullet)

The illustrations inside are so-so, nothing spectacular. But I do like the idea of this. Kids these days don’t want to color in beautiful landscapes or princesses.They don’t even know what those are.

Nearly all of our usual suspects can be found inside, including Biggie and 2PAc - on facing pages.

Someone’s missing though: Eminem! He not Gangsta enough?
